Veterans taking their own lives is a problem that is well documented. A male veteran in his 30’s is twice as likely to commit suicide than his civilian counterpart. Furthermore, Iraq and Afghanistan veterans are 75% more likely to die in car accidents than the general population. Historically, veterans have had increased fatalities following their service. Vietnam vets were twice as likely to die in crashes than non-veterans, and Gulf War veterans had a 30% to 50% greater risk of dying in crashes. Our goal at Wrenches 4 Warriors is to drive all these numbers down.
What is “motorsports therapy” and what are its benefits?
Motorsports therapy, an innovative approach to rehabilitation and mental well-being, harnesses the adrenaline-fueled environment of motorsports to achieve therapeutic benefits. Beyond the thrill of speed and competition, this therapy offers profound physical advantages through enhanced motor skills, coordination, and muscle strength. For individuals recovering from physical injuries or disabilities, motorsports therapy provides a dynamic platform to regain mobility and rebuild confidence. Moreover, the intense focus required during driving helps sharpen cognitive abilities and concentration levels, offering mental health benefits akin to mindfulness practices. This unique form of therapy not only accelerates physical rehabilitation but also fosters emotional resilience and a sense of accomplishment, making it a holistic approach to wellness in both body and mind. This is why at Wrenches 4 Warriors, we think going fast saves lives.
